HOW DO WE MAKE SOY CANDLES

Every candle is carefully created using the maximum amount of fragrance that the wax can hold, and hand-poured, finished and checked to ensure the utmost quality. Every candle is delicately wrapped in tissue paper before being placed in its box, and left to cure for at least 7 days for the scent to fully merge with the wax. We pride ourselves in paying special attention to each detail, and bringing you the ultimate quality, luxury soy wax candle available on the market.

We obviously never do any form of animal testing!

We have tested (and continue to test) hundreds of wicks, combinations and samples to ensure quality - every now and again we might execute minor changes in order to keep improving what we do.

WOOD WICK TLC

Wood wicks are unique and very different from traditional wicks. There are a few tricks to get the best out of them.

When you light a wood wick, it's easier to tip the candle and light the wick on an angle. It is best to light the wick at the base next to the wax rather than at the top - start from one end and move to the other end so the flame is even throughout the wick.

If the wick extinguishes the first time you light it, simply try relighting it until it catches - sometimes you may have to try a few times.

You will soon get the hang of it!

CANDLE CARE/BURNING INSTRUCTIONS

Before lighting your soy candle, trim the wick pinching the burnt ends with your fingers. Remove all debris from the candle before relighting.  Otherwise the candle may smoke and burn too fast.

Always light the candles long enough for the wax to melt to the edges of the container.  This increases the scent throw of candle and avoids 'tunnelling' - burning down the centre.

For standard safety reasons, we recommended that you burn small candles (65g) for a maximum of 3 hours at a time and the large candles (200g) for a maximum of 4 hours at a time.

Discontinue use of the burning candle when there is only ½” of wax left in the bottom to avoid the potential of a fire hazard.

Keep burning candles away from children, pets and flammable materials.
Never leave burning candles unattended.

Always place your candle on a level, heat resistant, non-flammable surface away from fabric or drapes. Choose an area free from drafts to avoid uneven burning. Do not place your candle on a marble or glass surface. If the bottom of the hot candle glass comes in contact with a cold material, the glass may crack.

Allow soy candles to cool and harden before relighting.
Do not move the candle while it is burning.

STORING THE CANDLES

Chemist and Co Candles should be kept in a cool, dry place at room temperature (about 22 degrees centigrade) away from direct sunlight, other light sources, and high humidity. They should always be stored upright inside their box as dust on the wax surface can be a fire hazard.

PACKAGING & WICKS

We have done endless research to ensure that we use recycled and/or recyclable packaging whenever possible - we have chosen the best solution based on this rather than cost. The wood wicks we use are from an environmentally sustainable source so you can enjoy our candles knowing that we have thought of all this!

RECYCLING OUR CANDLE JARS

Fill a bowl with boiling water, and gently sit the candle glass in it for a few minutes. The glass will conduct the heat from the hot water to melt the wax attached to the inside. Once the wax has softened, carefully remove the container from the water and pour out the melted wax in the bin (not the sink!). Or you can remove the wick and pour the wax into a cupcake paper container - once the wax solidifies, remove the paper and voila - you have just created a gorgeous smelling melt!

Wipe the inside of the glass with kitchen towel and gently wash it using warm water and soap. Our glass containers are coated from the inside so do this gently to avoid scratching it.

Our containers are NOT suitable to use with food or drink but there are many ways they can be used. Feel free to email us any photos so we can put your ideas on our website!
