Acne IPL Treatment

Service Description

All new laser clients need to book a test patch one week before a full treatment. Acne bacteria contain a photosensitive compound called porphyrins which absorb a certain wavelength of IPL energy that triggers a chemical reaction that destroys the acne bacteria to reduce acne and inflammation. The size of sebaceous glands is also reduced which limits the quantity of sebum they are able to produce. IPL helps clear acne and rebalances the skin, however it is also important to address the cause and other acne triggers. Downtime needed: a few hours after treatment Make Up can be worn the following day. Regular Facials are recommended for effective results. Acne follow up treatments should be spaced 2-3 weeks apart. This is to allow time for the treated lesions to subside so that each further treatment is able to target what remains. Having only 1-2 treatments or spacing treatments more than 3-4 weeks apart will likely result in poor clinical outcomes as the effects of the treatment are cumulative (similar to an exercise program). If acne is caused by an underlying hormonal issue, on-going treatments may be required to control the condition, which may not be possible to completely remove.
